’Flea’

I started the Fyber journey in 2020, when I stumbled upon a video. Since then, I’ve hoarded every fibre out there, wool, silk, cotton, linen…. You name it, I have it

Outside of the fibre world, I’m a qualified, experienced & skilled Veterinary Nurse, both in Small Animal & Equine, mainly horses & alpacas. I am also Certified in Animal Behaviour & Nutrition, and K9 Training.

I also make things out of wood, and can boast better workshop than some men.

I do not like being bored, even if watching TV I will be doing something with my hands.

I rescued Ollie from Karnup Prison in 2021. He was wild, scared & untrusting.

He is now confident, playful, affectionate, and, I admit, totally spoilt. He knows to bend his head a little when I go to kiss him, he loves snuggles and gives the best face cuddles ever. To say I adore him is an understatement.

He allows me to do anything, trusts that I will not hurt him, and if he’s scared of a loud noise for example, all I have to say is, ‘You’re ok,’ and he visibly relaxes.

He’s my beautiful gingerbread man.

Mia is only one of two animals that I didn’t rescue. I got her at 8 weeks from a couple my daughter worked with.

It took awhile to think of a name, she had so much personality. The one thing she did continuously, and still does, is stand like a meerkat all the time. So Mia, pronounced Me-a, fit her perfectly.

To say I spent the first 6 weeks literally playing with her is not lying. She was so much fun. And although she would always curl up in my lap, or give sweet face cuddles, she chose my daughter as her person.

I still get face cuddles and snuggles, when it’s cold, but Mia is a cat that makes me question every single thing I learnt about cat behaviour. She’s independent, a little bit mean & if she’s in a bad mood, run!

Regardless, I adore her. The three seconds of love I get about three times a day is worth it.

She’s my pretty, my little one.

Ah….my beautiful boy. I rescued Ralph when we lived in Qld. The German Shepherd Rescue had given my name to Qld RSPCA. On the phone, they didn’t tell me his history. I didn’t want to know, as I’m a firm believer in animals choosing us.

I spent two hours with Ralph, although he showed he trusted me after 20 minutes. It turns out Ralph was one of the worst cases of abuse & neglect they’d seen. He was petrified of the vacuum, the dust pan & brush, the lead, he would shiver & pee himself.

To cut a very sad story short, I spent months socialising him, training him, adoring him. He went everywhere with us. Three months later, he didn’t try to kill men, I could take him anywhere, off leash, and he would obey every verbal & non-verbal command. To say he is loyal, protective, obedient, awesome & loved is not enough.

Ralph follows me around so closely, that if I stop suddenly, his nose goes up my butt.

I’m pretty sure he’d follow me everywhere.

He is my beautiful, 14 year old boy.
